About this Coffee
La Vanguardia is a family-owned farm in Palmira, Boquete, Chiriqui, Panama. With a legacy spanning four generations, the family is dedicated to crafting the finest specialty coffees. Nestled in the idyllic surroundings of Boquete, the farm meticulously cultivates prized varieties like Catuai, Pacamara, and Geisha, ensuring a unique coffee experience. Located at around 1200 meters above sea level, with a temperature range from 14ºC to 26ºC, the farm benefits from its sandy-clay-loam soil type and the tropical rain high forest climate.
The Pacamara variety originated from a cross between Pacas and Maragogype. It is often used for competitions due to its high cup quality. It has a strong pallet of flavors for the creation of beverages. The natural sundried method, also know as the “natural process” or “dry process”, involves allowing coffee cherries to dry entirely without the use of water or machinery to eliminate any fruit. Initially, the cherries are harvested and carefully sorted to eliminate any underripe or overripe fruit before the drying process begins. This process intensifies the flavors of the coffee by utilizing the pulp while drying.
The Ruiz Family strikes again!
Our previous coffee from the Ruiz family had heaps of complexity as it cooled down. For some coffees, we need to be a bit more appreciative of the subtle, yet amazing world of flavours they contain as they cool off.
This super complex coffee is worth waiting for. Some notes include Strawberry, Honey, Creamy Caramel Fudge & Lemon - enjoy sipping this one out and enjoy the ride!
