About this coffee
El Arcángel was established in 2015, with its first harvest taking place in 2017. A distinctive feature of this farm is the separation of red and yellow Caturra varieties, allowing for experimentation with the unique flavors that arise from cups made exclusively from either red or yellow cherries. This approach highlights the farm’s dedication to exploring and showcasing the potential of these specific coffee varieties.
At the highest point of the farm, there once stood a grand tree, larger and more commanding than any other on the land. It seemed to watch over the farm, offering a sense of protection and guardianship akin to that of an archangel. This image inspired the farm’s name, El Arcángel, which perfectly captures the spirit and character of the land.
The coffee at El Arcángel is planted in precise, orderly rows, ensuring that harvesting is efficient and straightforward. Beyond its practical layout, the farm is a sanctuary of calm and beauty. It radiates a sense of peace and tranquility, almost as though it is blessed by angelic presence. Producers from neighboring farms, as well as the team at Agricafé, often visit El Arcángel to escape the demands of daily life, relax, and recharge amidst its serene surroundings.
Located in Caranavi at an elevation exceeding 1,550 meters above sea level, the farm is home to two primary varietals, Red Caturra and Yellow Caturra. The combination of altitude, meticulous cultivation, and a tranquil environment makes El Arcángel a place where exceptional coffee and a deep connection to nature flourish in harmony.
Be not afraid
For this angelic coffee delivers with sweet & fruity notes. Expect a complex interplay of sweeter Honey and Nutella notes with more tropical Mango notes. Definitely one to let cool off, but also one to let age a bit longer than usual - as this dense bean will open up even up to 6 weeks after roasting.
