About this coffee
This coffee was grown in Trans Nzoia County on the slopes of Mount Elgonna in Western Kenya.
Livestock breeding, cattle breeding and corn production have long been widespread in this
territory. However, more and more locals, especially the younger generation have recently
started to produce coffee. This is facilitated by volcanic soils, and a mild climate with
temperatures up to 28 degrees Celsius and sufficient rainfall throughout the year.
The coffee grown here has medium acidity, medium body and bright floral tones. The crops are
harvested annually: from March to July and from October to the beginning of January.
Wanrich Coffee – is a family company founded in
2015. In the first years, the coffee trees on the
family plantation of Jane Kamau's husband did not
bear fruit well. Still, at one of the local agricultural
exhibitions, the woman met representatives of the
Coffee Research Institute and enlisted their support
for further development. Jane began getting help
from the Coffee Research Institute on the most
effective varieties to plant, following a tree care
calendar and learning more about the market. Later,
she also completed a coffee export course and in 6
years, increased the harvest on the farm by 50
times! Jane is currently on the board of NORT, a women's
group working to create a central processing
station for farmers in the region.
Bringing back some classic profiles
Following our recent liking of some more classic profiles, this Kenya couldn't come in more handy with our previous one running out so quickly. It's packed full of clean fruits featuring Blackcurrants at the forefront, Lemon that turns to Lime as it cools and a lingering White Fudge finish.
